How to Participate in the Valentine Peace Project

Print

Bringing it into the 21st century!  The Valentine Peace Project is an international participation project re-imagining the worldwide day/season of love as an opportunity for peace, love and creative community connection.

1. Print a poem or statement how2from one of the submissions on the website (click the print icon) or write or find your own.

2. Cut and roll - make a scroll. Tie with ribbon or use a sticker.

3. Slip a stem through the scroll (or wrap poem around local or international flower* as pictured).

4. Share!

Alternatively - pass out scrolls without flowers, or make paper flowers:
Making paper flowers is easy and a tradition with children and adults in many countries.
To learn how to easily make paper flowers use these links:

www.bloom4ever.com (Origami flowers)

It's also possible to hold a peace poetry evening or workshop/discussion on steps to building peace.  Check out our Resources section.  Everyone has something to teach.

* Give more peace power to your flower:

Use local or Veriflora certified (organic!) flowers or Fair Trade.  Learn the source country of the stem.

Use the worldwide symbol of Valentine as a creative opportunity to connect.  Give a valentine peace wish to someone in another country you do not know through a social networking site or other international peace project like Mepeace.org or the PeacePortal.  What does an active and engaged global citizen in the 21st century look like to you?

February 14 isn't only for lovers anymore.

Make a bouquet - give it away!

If you have a partner - participate together - and Occupy the Day for Love and Peace.

There's no feeling quite like giving a stranger an unexpected gift- one as simple as a carnation.
We should give each other unexpected gifts of a smile or kind word or act more often.

It brightens everybody's day and connects us all to humanity.

Kevin Fagan, New York participant

Enjoy!
